In Like A Whippet has been my professional handle since 2001 — first as a final-year design-student tag, eventually as a senior marketing operator’s name, now as the consultancy itself. Twenty-five years; one name; no rebrand.

I work with founders, CMOs and commercial leads at SMEs and scale-ups (£2M–£50M revenue) who need senior digital marketing direction without the cost or recruiting time of a full-time hire. The usual brief I hear: “we’re spending more on marketing every quarter and I can’t tell my board what we’re actually getting back.”

My job is to make that question answerable — and the answer commercially defensible.

How I work

Marketing has to show its working in £, or it’s just a big pair of jazz hands. Every campaign, channel, deliverable, and hire I recommend is judged against a single question: does this produce a commercial outcome we can name and a time horizon we can defend? If the answer is no, we don’t do it.

I’m not an agency. One operator, inside your team, on your tools, in your meetings. No client-services layer, no account managers, no markup. The person who signs the SOW is the person doing the work, every day.

I’m AI-native. I operate the same AI marketing system I’d build for you — grounded knowledge base, custom agents, prompt library, version-controlled context. The technology is the productivity layer. Senior judgement is the strategy layer. The lie of 2026 is that the first replaces the second; it doesn’t.
