Accessibility statement
Last reviewed: 6th June 2026
We want inlikeawhippet.co.uk to work well for everyone who visits it. This page tells you what we have done on accessibility, what we know still needs work, and how to tell us about problems.
What we aim for
Our target is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at AA level. This is the standard expected of UK public sector websites and is becoming the de facto bar for commercial sites too.
We are not legally required to meet it — that requirement applies to public sector bodies — but we choose to. Senior marketing buyers are no more uniform in their reading abilities, screen-reader use, motor abilities, or colour vision than anyone else, and a site that is harder to use for any of those reasons is a site that is doing its job badly.
What we have done
- Semantic HTML structure throughout (proper headings, landmarks, lists)
- Alt text on all content images and illustrations
- Sufficient colour contrast between text and background (minimum 4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text and UI elements) — verified against the brand palette
- Keyboard-navigable site: every interactive element is reachable and operable by Tab / Shift+Tab / Enter
- Focus states are visible on all interactive elements
- Forms have proper labels, error messages, and ARIA descriptions where needed
- Pages reflow cleanly at 200% zoom and on mobile viewports down to 320px wide
- No content that flashes more than three times per second
- Skip-to-content link at the top of every page for screen reader users
What we know still needs work
We are not perfect. Currently:
- Some of the older illustrations have placeholder alt text that needs reviewing for descriptive accuracy
- The hand-drawn marker-pen wordmark may render less legibly for some readers — we keep the body-text wordmark as a fallback
- We have not yet completed a full screen-reader audit using JAWS or NVDA — planned for the next quarter
- PDF downloads are not yet fully tagged for screen-reader use — we are working on tagged versions
